Albena Denkova is a name that echoes with pride in the history of Bulgarian and world figure skating. A two-time world champion (2006 and 2007), a two-time European silver medalist (2003 and 2004) and the winner of the 2006 Grand Prix Final, Albena is an example of exceptional dedication and talent. In a recent interview, she shares her experience and views on the development of figure skating in Bulgaria, emphasizing the importance of facilities such as the Black Sea Ice Arena.
Discipline and Persistence: The Key to Success. “Every top athlete is extremely disciplined, meticulous, and completely dedicated to their work. And I, as the holder of two world titles, am no exception,” Albena categorically states. For her, success is the result of demandingness towards every undertaking and refusal to give up in the face of obstacles. With over 40 years of experience on the ice, she is happy to pass on her knowledge to anyone who is willing to learn and develop in this beautiful sport. This perseverance and accumulated experience are the basis of her remarkable achievements.

I like music and the search for ways to express it on the ice, to recreate emotion, to excite an audience,” she shares. "Black Sea Ice Arena": A Bright Ray for Bulgarian Figure Skating. Bulgaria, although relatively small on the figure skating map, has potential for development. Albena Denkova, however, emphasizes one of the biggest problems - the lack of modern material resources. "Without help from the institutions and the state, it will be very difficult for this beautiful sport to exist and achieve success," she notes.
It is here that the advantages of the "Black Sea Ice Arena" come to the fore. "In addition to the wonderful location - just a few meters from the beach, the base has an extremely modern rink, with all the amenities for work," says Albena. She points out that training in such a complex is suitable for competitors at any level - from children to national competitors, and the comfortable conditions turn work into pleasure. The Denkova-Staviski Club has been holding part of its summer training in Kranevo for years, which is proof of the high quality of the facility. “We are extremely grateful for the hospitality,” she adds.
A Message to the Future. At the end of the interview, Albena Denkova sends a message to all figure skating enthusiasts: “I wish all figure skating enthusiasts to follow their dreams.” She wishes a successful year to the interviewers as well, urging them to continue to lend a hand and love winter sports.
